Cottonwood Hollow Nature Preschool

Opening fall 2024

Cottonwood Hollow is opening a nature preschool next fall. We are in the throws of building out our indoor classroom and outdoor play space!

Cottonwood Hollow is a patch of forest full of whimsical gardens, farm animals and woodland magic located on the south-side of Columbus, right near german village. We offer holistic early childhood education, a small class size, an indoor and outdoor classroom, natural environment as tool for learning and understanding self. Our curriculum is Waldorf-inspired, child-led and focuses on emergent learning while holding a consistent daily rhythm and firm, secure boundaries through conscious discipline. We integrate the Ohio Early Learning Standards into our unique program to make sure your child is ready for kindergarten.

We will have space for 6 children per day, ages 2-5. We have guidelines for recommended care on our offerings page!

Take a peek at our Parent Handbook, and info sheets below to get a holistic picture of the school.

Meet Miss Sarah

Sarah Zinn grew up in a few different countries, but considers the midwest home. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in journalism, but fell in love with working with kids in her college job at the boys and girl club. Since then, she has been a camp counselor, preschool teacher for Head Start, and Americorps Vista for Franklinton Farms, where she helped build out a healthy living curriculum for Gladden Preschool.

She purchased the home and property that is Cottonwood Hollow in 2021, where she and her partner James built out a homestead. In the Spring of 2023 she started hosting Wander Scout at Cottonwood Hollow, a free monthly program for kids and caregivers, where they nature based play and activities.

Sarah is nearly finished with her certificate in Nature-Based Early Childhood Education from Antioch University, where she’s been working with mentors to build out this school’s vision. She cannot wait to offer a space for children to discover themselves and the natural world. She is CPR & first aid certified.
